Hi,
I never had a contaminated culture before and I’m so careful, but last week the cells were detached and the media became turbid but the color was still pinkish. I immediately discard it, and I think it was better to do some tests. So I appreciate if any could help.
Note: It was the first passage, could it be the trypsin?

Turbidity is the main symptom of bacterial contamination.microscopic examination would have shown you presence of bacteria before you discarded the culture.Bacteria can be clearly identified then by their shape, normally rounded tiny organisms. Some would form a chain others clusters. The contamination could be of various sources.Ensure that all your reagents are asceptically prepared and stored.maybe as you suspect, your trypsin could be infected. It is always good to QC your reagents before using them.I personally do QC all my reagents.I use thioglycolate broth to confirm bacterial growth in my reagents.
