Neuro2a and black particlesNits2008-02-05Click here to register.
From a long time, I’m facing a problem in growing Neuro2a.I’m getting black particles floating in the media over the cell monolayer. It doesn’t appear like a cell debris to me. I think it is a contamination because it increases with time but don’t know what type of contamination it is? I’m adding amphotericin B and Penicillin/ Streptomycin in the media.
Please help.

It is most likely cellular debris not contamination. The best way to determine whether it is biological or not is to do a fluorescent DNA test. This is usually used for mycoplasma testing but will work here as well. For a protocol go to www.corning.com/lifesciences click technical information, click cell culture and look under protocols.
