Cells tend to divide more rapidly in serum containing medium. A 400-011 fully loaded with hybridoma cells can consume as much as one liter of serum containing medium per day. Serum free medium tends to slow down cell division and reduce medium consumption so you would expect to consume one liter of medium every other day. The larger cartridges used in the BigFoot and High Flow Quad can consume between 2 and 4 liters of medium per day.
