growth-rate of WiDr (human colon-adeno-carcinoma cell line)Seven2001-08-10Click here to register.
When determining the doubling time of my culture, does it matter how much cells I start with? The doubling time is theoretically 15 hours, but I've had results ranging from 13 to 20 hours. Can any one help me?

Doubling time is the average time it takes for the cells to double. The amount does not matter normally. However, as cells grow, they sometimes
excrete a growth factor that helps improve growth. This might increase doubling time but I think that it just helps keep the cells alive longer which gives the appearance of faster growth (since you are not counting as many dead cells).
